Summoned Zombie in Another World - Chapter 5
Chapter 5 - Vitality, Ring, and Seed
It took Lin Yan about three days to digest the swallowed magic crystal and nourish his own body.
Under the nourishment of magic, Lin Yan's body completely broke free from a state of weakness, becoming solid, strong, and filled with "vitality".
Becoming strong was inevitable, but the added vitality was due to his limbs no longer being stiff. His joints became more flexible, approaching a state similar to that of an ordinary person.
Zombies, as undead beings, were completely different from the jumping and hopping zombies in Chinese legends.
The body of a zombie wouldn't be completely stiff, but when not hunting for food, their movements were sluggish. Their limbs were somewhat rigid and uncoordinated, making their mobility slow, and there was even a possibility of tripping themselves.
As a zombie, Lin Yan felt the biggest difference in his fingers. All five fingers could bend and stretch simultaneously, but they couldn't move flexibly and freely individually.
After being nourished and strengthened, all of Lin Yan's joints had softened, walking like an ordinary person, his fingers moved freely, just like a living person.
Only when his fingers became as flexible as before could Lin Yan remove the ring from the undead mage's fingers. The undead mage had a total of three rings on both hands.
One ring had an emerald embedded in it, looking precious but seemingly without any special function.
The other one was slightly more useful. It stored an offensive magic spell. When Lin Yan attacked the necromancer, it activated the attack against him.
That magic hit Lin Yan, causing some damage. However, unfortunately, Lin Yan was a moth-like zombie, and unless his head was smashed, his body wouldn't be seriously harmed.
The magic inside the ring was gone, so this ring was basically useless unless it was filled with new magic.
The one Lin Yan wanted was the ring worn on the ring finger, which had some mystical runes on its surface, indicating it was a magical rune.
This ring was a spatial ring, containing the undead mage's accumulation. At least there would be something inside, but Lin Yan wasn't sure what it was.
Indeed, he had obtained some knowledge, skills, and memories from the necromancer, but they were only fragments, a small part. He certainly wouldn't know every detail, such as when the necromancer wet his pants as a child.
The necromancer had already died, and this spatial ring had become ownerless. As long as Lin Yan bound it by dripping blood and making it his own, the spatial ring would become his possession.
However, there was one problem: Lin Yan was currently a zombie, and his bodily functions had long ceased, including the blood-producing mechanism.
There was still some blood, but most of it had already dried up and congealed into chunks that flowed within his body. There truly wasn't a single drop left.
To obtain a drop of blood, Lin Yan picked a small blood clot from his wound.
He took a small pot, added some water, and heated it up until it boiled.
Once the water boiled, he threw the blood clot into it, melting it into blood water.
That was the method, but whether it would work or not was the question. However, it shouldn't pose too big of a problem.
After the blood clot completely dissolved in the water, Lin Yan threw the spatial ring into it, letting it soak to better absorb the blood.
After waiting for about three minutes, Lin Yan felt a subtle connection between himself and the spatial ring.
That spatial ring had now become his possession. Lin Yan immediately took out the ring and put it on his finger, then used his spiritual power to explore what was inside the ring.
The size of that spatial ring wasn't very large, about the size of ten cubic meters, not too big, but it could still hold quite a lot of things.
What Lin Yan wanted was magic crystals or magic cores. His body had been nourished and strengthened, regaining some vitality, but it was still far from enough because his fatal injuries had not been repaired, indicating that his body hadn't fully regained its vitality.
Therefore, he still needed magic, more and more magic.
Meditation and cultivation were too slow. Since he could solve the problem by eating, it was natural to indulge in excessive eating. That was why Lin Yan was eager to open that spatial ring, hoping to find resources that could quickly accumulate magic power.
However, unfortunately, there weren't many magic crystals and magic cores inside the spatial ring. Most of it was occupied by magic books and research notes, accounting for the majority of the space. The remaining items were magic robes, clothes, and some everyday food.
Magic crystals and magic cores were not completely absent, but they were scarce. The combined total was only thirty-seven pieces.
Moreover, among them, five were not of the dark attribute, and it was unknown whether consuming them would have any adverse effects.
Lin Yan didn't care much about the other miscellaneous items, like magic wands or materials for drawing magic circles. His attention was captivated by one particular thing.
It was a seed that looked somewhat like a walnut seed, but its surface had unique patterns that seemed incredibly profound the more you looked at them.
When Lin Yan saw this seed, a short memory flashed in his mind. This seed was obtained unexpectedly when the undead mage killed a group of people.
The Seed of the Tree of Life!
The Tree of Life is the sacred treasure of the elven race, a treasure in itself. The branches and leaves of the Tree of Life are excellent magical materials.
It can also produce the Water of Life, which possesses healing properties, and most importantly, it has the power to prolong life.
The only regret is that the yield is too low. Every hundred years, only ten kilograms of Water of Life is produced. Even the elves themselves don't have enough, so they naturally don't sell it externally.
Of course, there are still some individuals who can negotiate trades with the elven race based on their own strength and influence to obtain some.
Every ten thousand years, the Tree of Life bears a seed, which contains an extremely powerful life force.
In terms of the life force it contains, comparing the Water of Life to the seed is like comparing a younger brother to an elder brother, not even worthy of carrying its shoes.
But the problem is, the Water of Life can be consumed and immediately take effect.
As for the seed of the Tree of Life, its effects are difficult to determine.
Firstly, it's impossible to plant it because only the elven race's Moonwell, a gathering of five elemental waters, can irrigate the seed and make it sprout and grow.
That's why the elves monopolize the Water of Life. Unfortunately, there's nothing to be done. They have a patent, and if you don't follow their rules, no one can obtain it.
And eating it is also impossible because its shell is very hard.
It's said that even a dragon can't break it, and even if consumed, it can't be fully digested. After entering the stomach, it just passes through the intestines and comes out intact.
