Summoned Zombie in Another World - Chapter 10
Chapter 10 - Young Girl, Bathing, and Regeneration
At night, a girl carried a wooden basin filled with clothes and a washboard as she walked to the riverside.
It seemed like she wanted to do laundry, but judging from her posture, she probably wanted to take a bath first.
In a secluded area with calm water flow, the girl placed the wooden basin on a rock and began undressing, step by step, entering the water.
Bathing under the moonlight, enjoying the coolness brought by the river, the tranquility of the night, everything was so beautiful.
However, this moment of beauty didn't last long because the girl noticed something strange.
There was a floating object, and that object seemed to be a person.
The girl stared for a while before confirming that it was indeed a person.
They lay face up in the water, drifting slowly with the current. Due to the relatively stable flow in this area, many floating objects ended up here, including this person.
Was it a living person or a corpse?
If it was a corpse, there was no need to pay much attention, but if the person was still alive, leaving them unattended could result in their death.
After some internal struggle, the girl decided to put on a piece of clothing and cautiously approached the person, wanting to confirm if they were already dead.
As she got closer, the moonlight illuminated the person's face—a pale yet delicate visage that appeared to be around twenty years old.
She lightly touched her index finger under his nose but felt no breath. Placing her hand on his chest, she felt no heartbeat even after a while.
"What a pity, to die so young."
The girl shook her head. Since this person was already dead, there was no need to worry. They would probably be washed away by the water current tomorrow.
However, at that moment, the person suddenly moved, startling the girl.
"Ughhh..."
Letting out a low groan reminiscent of an evil spirit, Lin Yan suddenly sat up, jolting upright.
Yes, the person floating on the water's surface was Lin Yan.
After being struck by the Exploding Bear's paw, he was sent into the river and drifted until he lost consciousness, ultimately ending up in this place.
The force of the Exploding Bear's strike was strong, and the subsequent explosion caused severe damage to Lin Yan's body.
An ordinary person would have bled to death from such injuries long ago. As a zombie, Lin Yan wasn't in a much better state. Although he could still survive, he was nearly useless. It would take who knows how long to fully heal and repair his body.
However, after absorbing sunlight and moonlight for a whole day, the tree roots filling Lin Yan's body had accumulated enough energy for self-repair. Hence, Lin Yan regained consciousness.
The chest wound healed quickly, and the girl, still in a state of shock, didn't pay much attention. However, she clearly witnessed the process of Lin Yan's arms being restored.
No, it shouldn't be called "restored." It was more like regrowth.
Below the elbows, Lin Yan's arms had been devoured by the Exploding Bear, so repairing was impossible.
Thus, they had to regrow.
From the section of the wound, dense tree roots first grew, outlining the shape of the forearms.
Once the outline was formed, the roots filled in the skeletal structure and muscles, finally wrapping them in skin.
In this way, a pair of new hands grew.
The girl who witnessed this process was left speechless with astonishment.
In this world, there were mages and magic, and naturally, there were healing spells as well. There were even spells capable of limb regeneration, but they were of a higher level.
However, someone like Lin Yan, who could regenerate a pair of arms on their own, surpassed the girl's comprehension.
Although he looked the same as before, this regenerative ability was far from ordinary.
The girl stared blankly at Lin Yan, and Lin Yan also stared blankly at the girl. He was thinking that she looked quite attractive and appetizing.
If it weren't for the fact that his body was filled with tree roots at the moment and his craving for flesh wasn't strong, this girl would be in danger. Lin Yan would undoubtedly pounce without hesitation.
The two of them maintained eye contact for quite some time until the girl finally realized that this kind of gaze was inappropriate.
A man and a woman, in the middle of the night, and she was only wearing thin, wet clothes. It was obvious that it could be seen as seductive.
But Lin Yan's gaze was calm, as if he was looking at a piece of wood. This kind of look made the girl feel uncomfortable.
"You... Have you looked enough?"
Lin Yan didn't quite understand the meaning of this sentence.
What's the difference between "having looked enough" and "not having looked enough"?
"Turn your head around."
Lin Yan understood this sentence and it wasn't difficult to comprehend, so he obediently turned his head.
Listening to the rustling sound, Lin Yan knew that the girl must be getting dressed on the shore.
Sure enough, the girl finished dressing on the shore and then asked Lin Yan to turn back around.
"Where do you come from?"
Silence.
Because Lin Yan really didn't know how to answer this question.
Should he say he was a blacklisted person summoned from another world or admit that he was an undead creature who came out of the Crow Ridge?
"Then who are you?"
Silence.
This question was also not easy to answer.
"Are you mute?"
Lin Yan shook his head in denial. "I...am...not..."
It took a lot of effort for Lin Yan to utter those three words. The girl beside him couldn't help but clench her fists.
"It's good that you're not. Do you have anywhere to go?"
Lin Yan shook his head.
"Then come with me!"
The girl took pity on Lin Yan. Since she encountered this situation, she decided to be a good person and take care of him for a few days.
And so, Lin Yan followed the girl to her home.
Her home was a simple wooden house not far from the river, where she lived with her younger sister.
The two sisters relied on each other for survival, living a difficult but simple and fulfilling life.
"Shh, my sister has gone to sleep, so let's keep our voices down and not wake her up."
The girl brought Lin Yan to her place, unaware of the true nature of the being she had brought home.
Fortunately, the current Lin Yan no longer had the craving for flesh that zombies possessed. If it were otherwise, it would have been a tragedy.
"Do you need something to eat?"
Lin Yan shook his head. He didn't need to eat. All he needed now was some sunlight and water. He was incredibly easy to take care of, especially since he had been soaking in the river for half a day.
"Are you sure you don't need anything?"
"No, th...thank...you..."
"You're really a strange person. But you're definitely not a human. What race are you?"
"No...idea..."
