Summoned Zombie in Another World - Chapter 11

Chapter 11 - Energy, Wood, and Connection

The next day, the eastern sun rose! When the first ray of sunlight illuminated the earth, Lin Yan was already standing inside the girl's small courtyard, absorbing the sunlight and undergoing photosynthesis.

Through photosynthesis, the roots inside his body would synthesize a kind of energy.

What kind of energy is this?

It doesn't seem to be magic power.

It feels like life force, but with some slight differences.

Having limited knowledge, Lin Yan couldn't make an accurate judgment. But one thing he was certain of was that this energy would be the foundation of his existence.

By sunbathing and undergoing photosynthesis, this energy would flow continuously and passively. He could also actively guide it, and while in a meditative state, the energy output could be doubled. It was faster and more convenient than consuming magic crystals and magic cores to obtain magic power.

Lin Yan had tried cultivating magic power through meditation, but the results were not good. Perhaps he didn't have the natural talent for it.

Although he could consume magic crystals and magic cores to quickly accumulate magic power after digestion, it required resources. Magic crystals and magic cores were not stones that could be found everywhere.

One was a precious ore that needed to be mined, consuming a considerable amount of manpower and resources. It belonged to high-end items and was not cheap.

Magic cores were also a resource. As long as it was a magical beast, there would inevitably be a magic core inside its body. Moreover, the magic cores of low-level magical beasts could not be considered expensive, but the magic power contained within them was naturally not abundant.

Cheap goods are not good, and good goods are not cheap. This is an unchanging principle no matter where you go.

The little inheritance left behind by the necromancer had long been squandered by Lin Yan. So now, he could only absorb sunlight to accumulate energy and live like this.

Sunlight is the purest and the most common resource in nature. Being able to use it for cultivation and enhance oneself is the best thing.

Just by meditating and cultivating for a short hour, the energy accumulated in Lin Yan's body had already reached the level of a first-tier magical beast.

At this moment, the sun had gradually risen, indicating that it was probably around seven in the morning. The girl from last night had already woken up and prepared breakfast.

Seeing Lin Yan motionless, seemingly doing something, she didn't go up to disturb him.

However, her younger sister, the five or six-year-old girl, was quite curious about this stranger, Lin Yan.

She couldn't understand what Lin Yan was doing, so she imitated him and stood there for a while before running off.

Then she found a stick and poked Lin Yan. Even though Lin Yan was in a meditative state, he didn't react at all. So she went to the vegetable garden, caught a few ants and small bugs, and placed them on Lin Yan's legs, but he still didn't respond.

This instantly piqued the little girl's interest. She wanted to figure out what would make Lin Yan react. However, after being glared at by her older sister, she obediently settled down.

"Do you want breakfast?"

Lin Yan turned his head and glanced at the girl, then slowly shook his head.

"You've been standing here all night until dawn?"

"Mhm!"

Lin Yan nodded slowly. He didn't need to sleep or rest. Since that was the case, it would be better to spend more time on meaningful things.

Before being summoned to this world, he had almost been devoured by his own kind. At that moment, he made up his mind not to become a pawn on the chopping board, to be slaughtered and consumed by others.

He wanted to become strong, but unfortunately, he didn't have the opportunity to grow. However, the necromancer summoned him to this world and gave him a chance.

Although Lin Yan was ungrateful and devoured the necromancer, he didn't feel that it was wrong. Either he devoured the necromancer or he would forever be enslaved by the necromancer until he completely died and dissipated.

He merely struck first to be strong. From the necromancer, Lin Yan obtained many useful things, and the seed of the Tree of Life bestowed him with a new life.

However, overall, Lin Yan's combat power didn't increase significantly. He knew some magic, but he could only use a few of them now.

Even against a young exploding bear, he was completely defenseless. If it weren't for the durability and regenerative abilities of his current body, he would have been eaten long ago.

So what he needed to do now was accumulate energy and then become stronger. Strength was the fundamental and most important aspect.

"You really are a strange person," the girl couldn't help but exclaim again.

"Yes, just like a piece of wood," the girl's younger sister agreed, nodding.

"Wood..."

"Yeah, just standing there blankly, not moving at all. What else could it be if not wood?"

Lin Yan felt that the little girl's words had some truth to them. His situation did indeed have some connection to wood.

"Aika, don't say nonsense. Come and eat quickly. After we finish, we'll go to the town to sell vegetables."

"Oh!"

The two sisters hurriedly finished their breakfast and then harvested some fresh vegetables from the garden. They would sell them in town to exchange for their livelihood. That was the foundation of their lives.

Lin Yan stayed behind to take care of the house, and they were reassured. They had no choice. Their home was bare and impoverished, but they were not afraid of thieves because there was not much to steal, except for the 1.2 acres of vegetables and grains.

Once the two sisters left, Lin Yan began practicing the Corrosion Spell. It was the only magic he knew at the moment.

As for the magic of undead summoning and other necromantic spells, it was best to use them sparingly, and he couldn't use them in front of others. If someone mistook him for a necromancer, it would be troublesome.

So he couldn't rely too much on magic. He needed to study his own body more, the roots within his body.

Oh, right. There was also the seedling in his soul space. He needed to communicate more with it. That was the root of roots.

Entering a meditative state once again, his consciousness delved into the soul space to meet the soul seedling.

The seedling seemed to have grown, but also seemed not to have. Two small tender leaves emitted a faint radiance.

Spirit and soul communicated silently, saying nothing yet seemingly conveying a lot.

When he opened his eyes again, it was already midday. The seemingly brief exchange had actually taken several hours.

This exchange yielded great gains because Lin Yan also understood many things.

As for what he understood, it was hard to say. That feeling could only be understood but not expressed in words.

Lin Yan walked to the vegetable garden. As he approached the plants, he could feel a sense of familiarity from them. They seemed to want to communicate something to him.

When he touched them, this sense of familiarity became even stronger.

At this moment, Lin Yan mobilized the energy within himself and transferred a bit of it to the plants, nourishing them.

After the nourishment, a faint connection was established between these plants and Lin Yan.
