Summoned Zombie in Another World - Chapter 7

Chapter 7 - Taking Root, Germination, and Soul Seedling

The seed of the Tree of Life, which originally required the nourishment of elemental water to take root and sprout, had a strong reaction under the death aura of Lin Yan, an undead being.

A rich vitality emanated and spread, as the outer shell gradually fell off. The emerald green light sphere moved slowly, completely occupying Lin Yan's heart position.

Something that should have been ordinary, yet could be considered a great miracle, quietly occurred inside Lin Yan's body.

For a seed to sprout, the first step was for the embryonic root to break through the seed coat. The embryonic root would then develop into the root system, deeply penetrating the soil. Next, the embryonic shoot would grow into the main stem, and the embryonic bud and cotyledons would extend and shed the seed coat. This was the entire process of seed germination and sprouting.

It was widely known that the vitality of a plant was closely related to the development of its root system. The more lush the crown of a tree, the larger and more extensive its root system would be.

In nature, many plants had root systems buried deep in the soil that were ten times larger, or even dozens of times larger, than the volume of their aboveground branches and leaves.

Plants in the desert exhibited this characteristic. In order to compete for the scarce water, their root systems could extend dozens of meters underground. It was truly awe-inspiring, a testament to the greatness of nature and the power of life.

All of the above occurred in the natural environment, but what if a seed were to take root and sprout within the human body? Would we still marvel at the power of life?

It was just a seed inside a human body, could it take root and sprout?

Could it, or couldn't it?

As mentioned earlier, if a seed entered the gastrointestinal tract, it would first have to pass through the barrier of stomach acid. This barrier would eliminate almost ninety-nine percent of the seeds.

The remaining one percent that could withstand the test of stomach acid would still be excreted because it was a foreign object that the human body couldn't absorb or digest. This is the body's mechanism of rejection.

Of course, there were some exceptions. Under specific conditions, seeds could sprout and grow within the human body.

For example, dandelion seeds floating into the ear canal or strawberry seeds stuck in the teeth. However, these were rare exceptions because the body temperature and internal environment of a living person rarely met the germination and growth conditions of seeds.

There was one exception, and that was the case of the deceased.

In the nature, a corpse is a resource that can be decomposed, recycled, and used as fertilizer for plant growth, providing rich nutrients.

Lin Yan is such a case, as the coat of the Tree of Life's seed fell off due to the nourishment of death's aura.

And due to the favorable environment of the corpse, the seed chose his heart as its base and began to take root and sprout.

When Lin Yan, who was in the process of nourishing and repairing his body, noticed all of this, it was already too late.

It's not entirely his fault, after all, zombies don't have pain or touch sensations. If his magical power hadn't all flowed into his heart and been absorbed by the seed, causing his chest to emit a green light, Lin Yan wouldn't have known what had happened.

In a meditative state, Lin Yan could see what was happening inside his body. It was a strange sensation, likely the legendary inner vision.

The root system of the seed didn't just grow and settle after being inserted. After emerging, its roots continued to grow and differentiate into numerous branches.

If Lin Yan had been someone with a fear of dense objects, he would have been scared unconscious by the sheer number of these roots.

These root systems crawled and extended through the depleted blood vessels in Lin Yan's body, moving freely as if they were crabs. Unfortunately, Lin Yan was helpless against them and could only watch as they settled in his heart, claiming it and his body as their territory.

Once the roots settled in a certain area, the abundant vitality flowed into that part, and the green light gradually extended.

Soon, Lin Yan's entire body was radiating a green light, and the abundant vitality centered around him, spreading and permeating in all directions.

In places that were originally lifeless, wild grass and moss unexpectedly sprouted, and within a short time, they grew dense and lush.

The root system intertwined with the blood vessels, then infiltrated the withered muscles, and even in the bones. It was particularly domineering.

Because of this, Lin Yan's entire body was completely under the control of the Tree of Life's seed.

In this moment, Lin Yan had a sensation that he had become a tree. He didn't know whether he was now considered a zombie or a plant.

And it was at this moment that Lin Yan twitched, his heart moved.

Yes, his heart twitched and then started beating.

The beating of the heart was the rhythm of life, and the thumping sound was, for Lin Yan, the most beautiful sound.

If Lin Yan wasn't a zombie now with working tear glands, he would probably be shedding tears.

The abundant vitality nourished every part of Lin Yan's body, penetrating into every cell, giving his once lifeless body a sense of revival.

Unlike the typical walking dead, this was a true resurrection.

However, this kind of resurrection wouldn't turn Lin Yan back into an ordinary person, but rather into a different form of life.

Lin Yan vaguely understood this, but he didn't find it inappropriate. As long as he could be alive, it would be a blessing.

The seed of the Tree of Life had completed the step of taking root within Lin Yan's body.

But it didn't proceed to the next step—it seemed unable to.

When Lin Yan thought about this, the main root of his heart emitted a strong light, absorbing his spiritual will and taking Lin Yan to a peculiar space.

In this space, Lin Yan saw a small seedling.

Hmm, it was really tiny. If one didn't look closely, it would be easily overlooked. The two small tender shoots hadn't fully unfolded yet.

When Lin Yan saw this seedling, he had a strange feeling. It was his soul.

This space was the realm of the soul, created by the combination of the seed of the Tree of Life residing in his heart, along with his body, spirit, and soul. Only Lin Yan could enter this unique space.

And this seedling in front of him was his soul, the embryonic form of the Tree of Life.

He had already merged with the seed of the Tree of Life, becoming an inseparable whole, both physically and spiritually.

This feeling was extraordinary and beautiful because it was the miracle of life!
