Summoned Zombie in Another World - Chapter 3

Chapter 3 - Brain, Memory, and Knowledge

Huffing and puffing, followed by the sound of chewing.

The scene was certainly not suitable for children, as it was bloody and terrifying. After all, it's a zombie feeding, and Lin Yan was still a very pure zombie.

The necromancer, who was trying to lay low, never expected that he would end up being killed by the undead he summoned.

Due to the binding nature of the summoning contract and his own overconfidence in judgment, he had completely let his guard down against Lin Yan, the zombie.

Most importantly, his magic robe and magical items were damaged in the previous battle, leaving him without any emergency protection magic.

If not for that, it wouldn't have been easy for Lin Yan to successfully strike.

Regardless, the hungry Lin Yan finally indulged himself.

He didn't know whether it was because he was a zombie or if there was a trace of magic power within the flesh of the undead mage, but Lin Yan could feel that after feeding, his body has undergone some subtle changes.

Some zombies primarily feast on raw meat, while others have a preference for brains.

For Lin Yan, it didn't matter, he could eat both.

This was the first time Lin Yan ate after becoming a zombie. Prior to this, he had no idea what it would feel like or how his body would change after feeding.

Based on his personal experience, when consuming flesh and blood, his body indeed undergwent slight changes.

The once dead and continuously weakening body received a replenishment of energy, regaining a sense of being alive.

However, it's just an illusion.

Once dead, always dead. To continue existing as an undead was not truly being alive.

An inexplicable memory emerged in Lin Yan's mind.

Lin Yan was a thinking zombie, and it's not uncommon for zombies to possess thinking abilities.

Advanced zombies all have the ability to think and are considered intelligent beings. Lin Yan could be counted among them. The difference is that he gained the ability to think from the moment he became a zombie.

It's akin to a newborn baby having the ability to think and learn from birth. Unfortunately, Lin Yan was born too late, missing out on the resources for growth, having no opportunity to develop, and narrowly escaping being exterminated by others of his kind.

While those advanced zombies didn't possess thinking abilities when they were first born, they gradually gained the ability through continuous feeding, growth, and evolution, ultimately becoming intelligent beings.

But regardless of the type, their experiences were still a blank slate. It was a new beginning, yet not entirely so, because the brain remained the same.

It was because of this that Lin Yan vaguely remembered that he seemed to be called Lin Yan.

Regarding his own name, Lin Yan was not entirely sure. Perhaps he thought it was a good name to take for himself.

However, it was not important. After all, a name is just a code, and it holds no meaning among the zombies.

But after devouring the necromancer, Lin Yan's mind was filled with many fragments of memories.

But the owner of these memory fragments wasn't him.

The owner was the dead necromancer lying on the ground, and Lin Yan viewed these memories from a first-person perspective, immersing himself in the memories."

This kind of incredibly realistic experience can't be compared to the sensations of a game or a 3D movie.

So much so that Lin Yan felt a bit dazed, kneeling in place for almost half an hour before recovering.

Shaking his head, Lin Yan tried to cast aside memories that didn't belong to him from his mind. However, these memories seemed to have taken root and couldn't be forgotten.

The more he tried to forget, the clearer and more unforgettable these memories became.

But these memories that didn't belong to him were not necessarily a bad thing for Lin Yan. Through these memories, he learned the written and spoken language of this world, the common language.

These things were helpful for Lin Yan to understand this world.

Memories that didn't belong to him resurfaced in his mind once again, this time about magic, the magic of summoning undead.

A brain doesn't weigh much, baby's brain is less than a kilogram, and an adult's brain is less than three kilograms.

So, it makes sense to say growing tall doesn't necessarily mean growing wiser.

Zombies have big appetites and can eat continuously without interruption. They can devour a living person in a very short time.

After digesting the consumed flesh, Lin Yan gains these things.

After digesting it, Lin Yan gained these things: the common language and writing of the continent, basic magical knowledge theory, necromancy, and some dark magic.

There were also some fragmented memories of the death necromancer's life experiences.

A person's decades-long experiences are quite extensive, and this necromancer was already over 80 years old.

The memories and knowledge inherited by Lin Yan were only a small part.

Compared to the complete life of a person, it was probably less than one percent, but it was enough.

All Lin Yan needed was knowledge. Other people's memories were a burden for him; too much was not good.

After all, Lin Yan's current state was like a blank sheet of paper. Filling it with other people's memories and life experiences would be like copying and replicating.

After copying them, would he be Zombie Lin Yan, or still necromancer?

When he received these memory fragments, Lin Yan got confused by this feeling. So, he needed some time to ease and digest before realizing his true identity.
