Summoned Zombie in Another World - Chapter 1

Chapter 1 - Zombies, Lin Yan, and Summoning

The howling wind blew through the dilapidated steel city as lifeless bodies aimlessly roamed.

These moving corpses were called zombies.

After the outbreak of the zombie virus, all the people in the world either turned into zombies or became food for the zombies.

Lin Yan was also a zombie, but he was different from these zombies—he possessed the ability to think.

Yes, from the moment of his transformation into a zombie, he gained the ability to think.

However, this didn't mean that he had a complete personality and memories. In terms of memory, Lin Yan at this moment was no different from a newborn baby, just like a blank sheet of paper.

A thinking zombie naturally had an advantage over the mindless walking dead controlled by instincts, at least in terms of the starting line, right?

But here's the problem: when you're just starting off, others have already reached the finish line. So, what advantage do you have left?

Lin Yan was in this situation—he became a zombie too late.

By that time, this world had already been taken over by zombies. He wasn't sure about the entire world, but at least in this city, there was no sign of a living person. All you could see were the slowly moving zombies everywhere.

The living had long been devoured by the first wave or the second wave of zombies, leaving nothing behind when it was Lin Yan's turn. There was truly nothing left, not even bones.

So, in reality, what advantage does a thinking baby have compared to a group of well-fed hyenas, wolves, and leopards?

The answer is obvious. So, when Lin Yan became a zombie, he was always in a state of hunger.

Hunger drove him to search for food, but in this city filled with nothing but walking corpses, it was impossible to find any living creature to satiate his hunger.

Looking up at the azure sky, with white clouds drifting slowly and the sunlight shining brightly, it was truly a beautiful day.

Today was really good weather!

Lin Yan stood still in one place, basking in the sun without moving, enjoying the warmth of the sunlight.

He liked this feeling very much—it gave him a false illusion that he was still alive.

Perhaps this would be the last time he could enjoy the afterglow of the sun because today marked the seventh day since he became a zombie.

At this moment, he was extremely weak, his body had reached its limit. Although he was a corpse, it still required energy to sustain the movements of a corpse.

And his energy was about to run out.

Although he had already died once, being starved to death again would truly be miserable. Lin Yan couldn't help but laugh at himself.

Lin Yan was nearing his limit, and so were the other zombies. They were also starving, and there was no food left in the houses.

In the past, during feudal history, famines caused by natural disasters and man-made calamities would force people to migrate to other places in search of survival opportunities.

As a result, anything edible along the way would be eaten up.

Tree roots, bark, leather, and even cannibalism, all of it happened.

These were not just four simple words, but a dark and bloody history.

And now, that dark history was unfolding once again.

At this moment, the wind stopped, and the sun hid behind the clouds. A strange feeling sent shivers down Lin Yan's spine.

This kind of chill was a signal.

Lin Yan's zombie instinct told him that this was some kind of instictive signal, but because of his ability to think, he couldn't interpret it.

But he had a feeling that something was about to happen, danger was approaching.

"Roar~~~!"

A roar like that of a primordial beast echoed through the city.

In the wake of this roar, the other zombies stood rooted, like pieces of wood, staring blankly.

After a long time, when they started moving again, a horrifying scene unfolded.

Zombies pounced on other zombies near them.

And then they tore into each other, like wild beasts, biting and tearing each other apart.

Some zombies showed no mercy, several of them ganging up on one zombie, quickly tearing it to pieces, and then feasting on it.

Survival of the fittest, the law of nature.

The scene unfolding before his eyes gave Lin Yan a strong sense of déjà vu, as fragments of memories flashed through his mind.

Not long ago, similar scenes had played out.

But compared to those, the current scene was much better.

After all, there was no spraying of blood, flesh being torn apart, and the constant sound of screams, so overall it was much more harmonious.

But one thing hadn't changed, and that was his situation of being hunted.

When he was not yet a zombie, still a living person, he was the target of numerous zombie attacks.

And now, as the weakest zombie, Lin Yan was the object of hunting and elimination once again. He had already been targeted by several zombies.

But when Lin Yan realized this, it was already too late. He had just taken a step with his left foot when he was tripped by a zombie.

Another zombie immediately pounced, opening its mouth with a growl, biting towards Lin Yan's throat.

Lin Yan grabbed the zombie's throat with both hands, exerting all his strength to restrain the other party. But it was undoubtedly futile because other zombies, seeing that there was weak flesh to be shared, also gathered around, wanting to get a piece of it.

Am I going to die again?

As a weakling, apart from being eaten, there was no other choice or right.

I'm really... so unwilling. Why am I so weak?

If I were given another chance, I would definitely not allow myself to be so weak, to become fodder for others.

Although Lin Yan's conviction was strong, it couldn't change the fact that he was about to be devoured.

However, at this moment, a mysterious voice rang in Lin Yan's mind. Listening to this voice, it should be an old man's, but Lin Yan couldn't understand what he was saying.

At least it wasn't Mandarin, Japanese, English, or other Western countries' language. Lin Yan couldn't understand at all. But strangely, he could understand what's the meaning of these words.

Summoning.

That old man was summoning him. A mysterious force told Lin Yan.

As long as he silently followed the summoning, he would be called over. For Lin Yan, this was excellent news.

Without any hesitation, Lin Yan silently complied with the summoning. Then he felt as if he had fallen into a whirlpool, uncontrollably plummeting down.

An old man with white hair, dressed in a robe, stood in front of a dark purple magic circle, waving a magic staff and reciting an incantation. After he finished the incantation, the dark purple magic circle flowed with a pitch-black radiance, slowly activating.

Amidst the intense brilliance flashing from the magic circle, a person appeared within the magic circle, and that person was Lin Yan.

Obeying the summoning, he had arrived in another world!
