Lizard Lord - Chapter 6

Chapter 6 - Underground Crawler

Tang Zhao initially wanted to open his mouth wide and bite the insect. However, its shell was flat and smooth, making it difficult for his teeth to penetrate.

At the same time, the tortoise beetle's body was low, making it difficult for Tang Zhao to flip it over and attack its relatively soft abdomen with brute force.

During the time Tang Zhao's attack was thwarted, the tortoise beetle had already released its broken tail, turned around, and prepared to attack Tang Zhao.

Escaping was not impossible at this point. This type of insect had weak flying ability, short legs, and a heavy shell, which severely affected its speed.

But Tang Zhao, who had already been provoked, did not want to retreat at this time.

The water was the tortoise beetle's advantage, but now it had been dragged onto land, greatly reducing its combat effectiveness. Tang Zhao's goal was to seize this opportunity.

Only one blood core was needed for evolution. Killing this tortoise beetle would allow him to find a place to evolve in peace.

Otherwise, even if he could escape this time, it would waste a lot of time to recover from his injuries, and he didn't have much time to waste now.

His sharp teeth and claws were ineffective, so Tang Zhao decided to stand up and use his own body as a war hammer, forcefully slamming down on the turtle from above.

The sickle-like limbs were certainly terrifying, but they could only focus on one side. Faced with the fast-approaching attack from above, it was obvious that the tortoise beetle was having a hard time retaliating.

The first blow landed heavily on the tortoise beetle, although it didn't cause any significant damage, its movements clearly became slower.

Tang Zhao didn't stop there, he quickly took two steps back, stood up again, and smashed down towards the tortoise beetle.

This cycle repeated several times, and it seemed that the tortoise beetle was completely confused by the constant attacks. Its offensive posture disappeared, and its movements became significantly slower.

Seizing the opportunity, Tang Zhao bit one of the tortoise beetle's limbs and used his claws to flip it over, exposing its vulnerable abdomen.

With his claws stepping on the tortoise beetle's abdomen, using his own weight to prevent it from flipping over, Tang Zhao opened his mouth and bit off the tortoise beetle's head.

Although it had lost its head, the insect's strong vitality caused it to continue waving its limbs, and its sickle-like limbs kept opening and closing frantically.

Tang Zhao's claws were embedded in the gaps of the shell, and he slowly tore off the pieces of shell attached to the turtle's abdomen. Finally, he extended his head into the insect's body cavity and searched for the blood core he needed, swallowing it in one gulp.

After meeting the requirements for next evolution, Tang Zhao also swallowed a few pieces of the insect's body, and then glanced at the glowing dust still floating in the sky before quickly leaving without looking back.

The forest was full of dangers and couldn't be considered a safe area for evolution and rest. He thought that the water would be safer, but he overlooked the existence of fierce aquatic insects.

Even though the threat had been eliminated, Tang Zhao still didn't want to evolve in this place because he might encounter unforeseen circumstances while sleeping.

After much thought, there was only one safe place left.

Soaking in the pond for a while, trying to wash away the smell of blood as much as possible, Tang Zhao found another open space and began digging holes on the ground.The wound on his tail had already closed spontaneously, and the pain had greatly diminished. Tang Zhao's movements with his claws did not slow down at all. At the same time, he started thinking about the various things he encountered tonight.

【Let's start with the arrow that was shot. It doesn't have much killing power. It's either meant to remind me or to remind that insect. Currently, it seems more likely to be the former.】

After all, if the other party wanted to harm him, they could have used arrows with stronger killing effects. After dealing with that tortoise beetle, no other creatures emerged.

In the deep forest, Tang Zhao simultaneously discovered arrows and glowing dust. Tang Zhao's intuition told him that there was a connection between the two, but he lacked knowledge about everything and couldn't know for sure.

With his current abilities being insufficient, he could only temporarily put these things aside and instead focus on his own tail.

His body was very similar to a giant lizard, but he still possessed the skills he had as a small lizard.

Whether it was because the joints were fragile or for some other reason, he didn't know. But Tang Zhao could indeed still detach his tail.

Rather than being an escape method, this was more like an unexpected attack method. It had a good effect, but it also came with a painful cost.

Not to mention the large amount of fat stored in the severed tail, not all lizards could regenerate their tails. Even if he belonged to the regenerative type, the bones would not fully recover. Under normal circumstances, he would only get a subpar tail, which would have a negative impact on him.

But since he had the ability to evolve, all of this wouldn't be a problem.

He had experimented with his tail tip and teeth, and after evolving, they could indeed fully recover. In theory, even if he lost a tail, it could be the same.

With various thoughts in his mind, Tang Zhao didn't know how long he had been digging. Finally, he dug out a deep enough hole that he could hide in.

He covered the hole entrance with branches and leaves, and then used mud to seal it as much as possible, leaving only a few air holes. It could be considered a relatively safe hiding place.

After solving the key problem, Tang Zhao began to prepare for evolution.

{Finding a suitable location for evolution, taking six hours (random two enhancements)}

It took six times longer than before, but the number of strengthened abilities remained at two. Tang Zhao didn't want to waste time and immediately started the next evolution.

...

The feeling of being trapped struck again, and when Tang Zhao opened his eyes, he found himself in the desert once again.

However, this time, besides the endless yellow sand, there was something else.

Tang Zhao kept circling around a withered bush, trying to see what was different about it.

Besides the sand, there were also some dead plants in this desert.

Still no green, but there's some vitality after all.

After half a day, Tang Zhao left his doubts in his heart and began to look for the decorative panels he needed for his evolution.

He found one in the sand and another under a dead tree. Tang Zhao didn't continue searching and directly chose these two decorative panels.

【Selection complete】

{Are you sure?}

【Confirm】

{Selected: Poison Gland/Lungs}

In the darkness, Tang Zhao opened his eyes and immediately began to observe the surrounding environment.

As he had expected, the space in the hole had become much larger, fortunately without any collapse.

He was not sure what the specific process of evolution would be like, but at least he wouldn't experience the miserable situation of being "stuck in the ground".

Even though he had already dug out a lot of extra space in the hole beforehand, Tang Zhao's current size still couldn't allow him to crawl out of the hole.

He extended his claws and started digging the soil again. This time, he was much faster than before, and soon he saw the daylight again.

As soon as he left the hole, Tang Zhao hurried back to the previous pond, ready to check his current condition using the water surface.
